July 4th Announcement
Dear Syncopation Friends,
We are thrilled to finally be able to tell you some fantastic news. On July 3rd and 4th, we will be performing with perhaps the most famous ensemble of the last 125 years, "America's Orchestra": The Boston Pops.
The Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston is one of the premier places in the country to celebrate Independence Day (second only to the Mall in Washington D.C.). The Boston Pops, conducted by Keith Lockhart, will perform the 1812 Overture and other favorites, and will feature special guests such as some guy named Neil Diamond (don't know yet whether Caroline will be there, but you can be sure that her song will be sung, with half a million people singing along "Whoa, whoa, whoa.... So good! So good! So good!"), and Your Favorite Vocal Group: Syncopation. The emcee of the evening is Craig Ferguson of CBS television's "The Late Late Show."
Lee has been busting his butt to write some outstanding new arrangements for us to perform with the orchestra, and we are juiced, jazzed, stoked. You'll hear us sing tight harmonies, play horn solos and section, take an a cappella break, scat sing... in short, all the excitement you expect to hear from a Syncopation joint.
The identical concert will be performed both July 3 and 4th (with no fireworks on the 3rd, of course). Both shows start at 8:30 p.m. For more information about the schedule, see http://www.july4th.org/concert.htm
If you can't be there in person, be sure to catch us on WBZ-TV Boston beginning at 8 p.m. and WBZ News Radio1030 and WCRB 99.5 FM beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Do your patriotic duty and come check it out!
Yours in Stars and Stripes,
Syncopation
